TAXODIUM distichum
Description
A deciduous, fast-growing tree which is cone-shaped when young and irregularly columnar when full-grown. Its light-brown bark becomes cracked on the surface and fissured later on. Its alternate, soft, trictly lanceolate, pale-green leaves, up to 2 cm in length, become golden-yellow or rustcoloured in autumn. It grows extremely well in damp soil where there is a danger of flooding.
