PHOENIX canariensis
Description
A medium-sized palm with a robust, columnar trunk marked by the cutting-off of the leaves which are pennate, up to 6 m in length and made up of a number of linear, green leaflets. In summer it produces pendulous panicles of cup-shaped, creamy-yellow flowers which are followed up by cylindrical or ellipsoid-shaped, red fruit with yellow overtones.
